Meet The Team

Who We Are

A young new couple who's love for animals has taken them on the journey of purchasing there dream home in late 2019 which has everything they both wanted out of life.

Jackie who you see regularly in the videos has space for animals and Martin has his own workshop for his various hobbies and the DIY needs of the farm.

Future Plans and Animals

As this is our forever home we are going to take the time to think about exactly what we want to do and potentially purchase additional land around the house.

This would enable us to ensure that we not only have enough grass and acreage for what we already have but also for what we plan to purchase.

Firstly we need to build a pond for the ducks and geese as well as an area for the pigs that will be here sooner than we think since they've just been born and will be come home in July.

We've also got a few out buildings we are going to do something with but right now we aren't 100% sure what.
How did you both meet?

Both Martin and Jackie actually went to the same school but was a year apart, Martin being older. They did cross paths and kind of knew of each other but were in different social circles.

Years later in 2017 through each others work they both started talking and became friends. Jackie knowing Martin was very good at editing photos and Videos through his aerial photography website she asked for help with her Mums up and coming 60th Birthday present.

After a first date to Pizzahut (Jackie's Favourite Place) and the rest was history.

How long have you two lived at Windfold Farm?

We purchased and moved in October 2019

How did you both get into Farming?

For Jackie her Grandad was a farmer who had a small place out just past Newmacher so was already in her blood.
She officially started on her own with a few sheep at her mums in 2015 and was hooked there after.

For Martin he was a city boy who liked the outside life style and after meeting Jackie in 2018 he naturally got roped into help....at lambing season of all times so was a quick eye opener.

How much land do you have?

At Windfold Farm we have 10.5 acres but we also have 4.5 acres at Jackie's mums croft called the Smiddyhill Farm giving us access to 15 acres in total.

We have in the past rented additional space so we can plough our fields, let the grass recover or move last years lambs out the way.

So why rare breeds?

We wanted to be different instead of the main stream white sheep used in commercial farming. AlsoJacobs and Valais's produce some of the cutest sheep you can find on the plant.

The Alpacas were for fox defences in 2018 as we lost nearly 40 ducks in the space of a 3 week period.

Is this your main job?

We are hobby farmers who just enjoy the country life style and the satisfaction of bringing in new life to the world.

Both of us have full time jobs within the Oil and Gas Sector.

What are your other interests?

Jackie is a massive Aberdeen fan and has been a season ticket holder all her life. She goes to the the games with her mum and Grandma.

Martin has a wide range of interests including drone photography where he was one of the first to do this starting in 2009 when you actually had to design and build yourself. More recently he is keen clay pigeon shooter and races at Crimond Raceway within the RGS class from time to time.
